Chiavenna - The town of Chiavenna

Chiavenna has a population of 7.244 abitanti (Chiavennaschi) and a surface of 11,1 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 652,61 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 333 metres above the sea level.

Population: The municipality of Chiavenna had a popolation of 7.365 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 7.244 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 - 2001 a percentual variation of -1,64% inhabitants.

The inhabitants are distributed in 2.937 families with an average of 2,47 people per family.

The place: The territory of the municipality lies between 286 and 2.455 metres above sea level.

The altimetric spawn is thus of 2.169 metres.

Work and workers:There are 143 industrial firms employing 540 people that are the 25,54% of the total of the workers. There are 189 service firms employing 472 people that are the 8,94% of the total of the workers. There are also 222 firms employing 806 people that are the 22,33% of the total of the workers. There are also 74 administrative offices emplying 822 workers that are the 10,50% of the total of the workers.

There is a total of 2.114 workers, that are the 29,18% of the inhabitants of the municipality.
